What's changing for the 2027 edition
After nearly three decades under the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) banner, organization of the Paris Marathon is taken over from 2027 by the Cadence group (Havas Events, Keneo and OSE). The race also changes sponsor name, becoming the ASICS Marathon de Paris.
Information verified against several independent running-media sources at the time of writing this page (September 14, 2026): date and organizer announced, final course not yet published. Check the race's official channels for any update.
Date, distance and registration
The 2027 edition is announced for Sunday, April 4, 2027, over the official marathon distance (42.195 km). It marks the 50th edition of the Paris race.
Another notable change: bibs are now allocated by lottery, replacing the first-come, first-served system used in previous years.
How long you need to prepare
Running Workout's marathon plan runs 12 weeks. Starting from an existing running base, that puts the start of preparation around mid-January 2027 for an April 4 race.
- 12 weeks of structured preparation, from base to taper.
- 3 to 7 sessions a week depending on your schedule.
- Progressive long runs up to two and a half hours, finishing at marathon pace.
The full plan details — phases, session types, long runs — are on the dedicated marathon plan page.
How to set up your preparation
Once you have your bib, just start the marathon plan on the app's Plan screen, entering April 4, 2027 as your race date. Your AI coach then reviews these settings with you, and builds and pushes the sessions to your Garmin watch, week by week.
The plan stays editable at any time if the final course or the date were to change before then.
