SaintéLyon 2026: your last weeks before the SaintéSprint, workout by workout on your Garmin
The SaintéSprint, the SaintéLyon's 24 km (14.9-mile) night race, starts on Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 10:45 p.m. in Soucieu-en-Jarrest; a 10-week plan would have started on Monday, September 21. For the four weeks left, Running Workout connects your Garmin to your AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT…) in two minutes: it prepares your workouts up to race day (hills, race pace, taper), sends them to your watch, then analyzes your race.

« Prepare my workouts up to the SaintéSprint on November 28, with one hill session a week, and send them to my watch. »
-
« Send this to my watch for Thursday evening: 15 min warm-up, 8 × 1 min uphill at 90% of MAS, recovery jogging down. »

14.9 miles at night from Soucieu-en-Jarrest
The SaintéSprint leaves Soucieu-en-Jarrest on Saturday, November 28, at 10:45 p.m., with a single aid station, solid food, in Chaponost at km 11 (mile 6.8). The organizer describes it as a night half marathon, mostly runnable but not entirely; the elevation and GPX track had not been published as of October 27. It is capped at 2,900 runners and listed as sold out.
It is one of the formats of the Asics SaintéLyon, 72nd edition on November 28–29, 2026, whose historic race links Saint-Étienne to Lyon over about 80 km (50 miles). The program also includes a 160 km race, relays, the SaintExpress (46 km), the SaintéVia (36 km), the SaintéTic (13 km) and kids' races.
Why the half marathon plan? At 14.9 miles, the SaintéSprint is close to half marathon distance. Running Workout's plan is a road plan: your assistant adds hill workouts and adapts it to the terrain, creating those workouts and sending them to your watch.
Three workouts for a night half that isn't all flat
Four weeks out, three workouts prepare you for this profile: hills, race pace on mixed terrain and a night run. Your assistant creates them and sends them to your watch:
- Hills: 15 min warm-up, 8 × 1 min uphill at about 90% of MAS, jog back down, 10 min cool-down.
- Race pace: 50 min including 3 × 10 min at your SaintéSprint goal pace, 3 min easy between blocks, on a hilly route.
- Night run: 1 h 15 min to 1 h 30 min easy, with a headlamp, on trails, two to three weeks before the race.
Ask for them one at a time: the assistant sets the paces from your MAS (maximal aerobic speed) read from Garmin and puts each workout in your Garmin Connect calendar. In race week it eases off: a short reminder at goal pace, then rest.
Late November, at night: what the calendar changes
The race is in late November, at night: your last weeks fall in autumn, as the days get shorter. Run some of your workouts in the evening with a headlamp to get used to the start time. Bib pickup is at the Halle Tony Garnier in Lyon on Friday, November 27, from noon to 8 p.m., and Saturday, November 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; runner shuttles are scheduled on race night, meeting between 9:15 and 9:30 p.m. (address on the official page).
Missed a week? Tell your assistant: it reads your Garmin activities, reviews the week and reshuffles the remaining workouts without trying to catch up. For the 2027 edition, the full 10-week plan will line up with the date as soon as it's announced.
Frequently asked questions
When does the 2026 SaintéSprint start?
Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 10:45 p.m., from Soucieu-en-Jarrest, as part of the 72nd Asics SaintéLyon (November 28–29). Bib pickup is at the Halle Tony Garnier on November 27 and 28.
Are there any SaintéSprint bibs left?
No: the official site lists it as sold out, like the 80 km race. A registered runner can transfer their bib online to a replacement, within the deadlines set by the rules.
Is a half marathon plan enough for the SaintéSprint?
It's a good base for 14.9 miles as long as you add some climbing: Running Workout's plan is a road plan, and your assistant inserts hill workouts and trail runs. For 2026, four weeks remain, so it prepares your last workouts rather than a full plan.
Is Running Workout free?
Free to start: Garmin connection, plans, reading your activities and 4 workouts a month sent to your watch. Running Workout Pro (€4.90 a month or €35 a year, no commitment) removes the limit.
